My Perfect Weekend...

For our one year anniversary, my boyfriend and I decided to do a quick weekend trip to Birmingham, Alabama. On Friday, we had a fun-filled relaxing day in the sun at Alabama Adventure. Afterwards we checked into our Bed and Breakfast, Cobb Lane. This was a very nicely decorated home with lots of antiques. The rooms were gorgeous and the service was amazing. For that night, we made reservations at Cafe Dupont. This was a dimly lit, very sophisticated restaurant. We ordered a bottle of Russian River Ranches wine to compliment our meals, a great suggestion from our waiter. We started out with a cheese sampler appetizer of different types of cheeses and crackers. Lee, my boyfriend, had grilled salmon in which he said tasted wonderful, and I had the prime rib which was exceptional in taste and very tender. After dinner, we asked the hosts to refer a local nightlub that we could have a couple of drinks and listen to live music. He suggested Speak Easy, which is withing walking distance from the restaurant. At the bar, we listened to a local live band while having a drink. Speak Easy also had a separate section that was like a sports bar. Lots of fun!! On Saturday, we visited the Botanical Gardens and had a wonderful light lunch at their restaurant. There were so many gardens that we couldn't possibly look at them all, but they were very gorgeous! We then went shopping at the Galleria and headed home. The weekend getaway was great! We had so much fun, stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast, wined and dined at one of the top restaurants, listed to a live band, expanded our knowledge on nature, and got a little shopping in!!
